Title: New York Death Cert
Post by: hasta on Thursday 11 November 21 14:43 GMT (UK)
Is there any way to get a NY death cert other than going through Vitalchek ? I'm in Europe and have all the details for what I need but they keep requesting forms of US identification and I have mailed them twice to say I can't supply - but offering European ID and they keep sending me back the same copy/paste reply with the list of US id.

Have you looked here to see what they require:
https://www.health.ny.gov/vital_records/death.htm

Or in the county where the person died. The requirements might be different, it's worth a try.

Are you ordering from New York state or New York City?  What is the time frame of the death?

There are some older NYC death records that can be gotten for free through a Family Search look-up service.  If it's NY state, it may be possible to order from the town or other locality where the death occurred, and it will likely be significantly faster.
