Hi, looking to find any information on James Gilmour's possible marriage, children & death in South Africa. A will was located in 1933 but many bits in it appear false. He was born 16 Sept 1874 Glasgow, Scotland and died 16 June 1933 Western Cape, SA. I found a grave in Gauteng for a 4 Yr old child Grace Gilmour d 1910 parents J & É Gilmour which I believe to be his daughter but no proof. Any assistance at all would be much appreciated. I have tried eGGSA, ancestry, familysearch with no success. Kim

Hi treespirit, Again thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Familysearch is where I found the info on his death & estate. Problem is he may have been single at the time of his death but he had children, of that I am certain. The kids maybe died young, that I'm unsure about. The estate papers do not explain alot so I'm trying to find more about him. He originally lived in Gauteng for years. Kim

Aghadowey, thank you for finding the death cert. Shame no parents but I shall look about to see if I can find anything else about her. Again, thanks. Kim

It is possible that he was single at the time of his death and had children but never married the mother. I found that had happened on my hubby's side of the family. His grandfather never married his grandmother but they had 9 children together. If he did not acknowledge them as his, it's possible they would not be mentioned on his estate etc.

Silly dogs, thank you. That is so true. If the Grace that I found is a daughter maybe the children died young. There is so much about him that is hidden. It's infuriating. Kim
