Title: Brogden's Navvies - Magazine Article Help Please
Post by: catherineh on Saturday 30 October 21 23:19 BST (UK)
Hello

I’m looking for older copies of the New Zealand Genealogist and New Zealand Memories magazines, which unfortunately my local library does not keep.

I’m specially looking for two articles relating to the emigration of Brogden’s “navvies” to New Zealand in the early 1870s –

Getting to Gravesend 'Brogden's Navvies'
Beck, Martin, INNZNA
New Zealand Memories, Aug/Sep 2008; n.73:p.32-39

Cornish emigration to New Zealand
Viles, Dulcie, INNZNA
New Zealand Genealogist, Sep 1988; v.19 n.188:p.522-523

I’m hoping that someone has a copy and wouldn’t mind sharing the articles.

Many thanks
Catherine

Thanks - yes, actually just reading the thesis now :)  There are some great insights.

If all else fails:

"Articles from The New Zealand Genealogist from 1970 to 2008 can be viewed in PERSI through FindMyPast (subscription required, or available to use at the FRC and some local libraries). The FRC also holds hard-copies of all back issues."

Thank you, though sadly not an option for me at the moment - I don't have a FindMyPast subscription and with Level 3 lockdown no library access either.  Hoping someone may be able to do a lookup.
