Title: Moore’s of Co. Longford
Post by: FLUFFY1234 on Friday 22 October 21 10:14 BST (UK)
Hi,
I did a dna test a few months back and the results helped me to find my birth father and his family.
All now passed away. He was Thomas James Moore from Tully, Longford.
Thomas was born in 1918 died 1995 as far as I know he never married his siblings were
Lillian Jane 1919-2020 she emigrated to America after she married.
Richard 1921-1997, Gertrude 1928-1984, Dorothy 1931-2000.
My question is would anyone have any knowledge of the family or know them.
Especially Dorothy as she was the last to pass away.
All of the above with the exception of Lillian are buried in St.Patrick Church of Ireland graveyard, Granard Co. Longford along with their parents Harriett and Richard ‘Tully’ Moore

I did find possibly 2 more siblings mother’s maiden Bennett
They are Joan Moore born 1929 and Mildred Moore born 1934
I am very curious to know if these 2 were siblings of my birth father Thomas.
I don’t have any other information on Joan or Mildred.
Many thanks.

You will need to purchase the birth records of the two female Moores to find out if there was a connection. Photocopies from GRO Ireland cost €5.00.

Yes they are the 2 possible siblings I found.
I wasn’t too sure where to apply for the birth certificates.
Thank you.

OP, is this the marriage of Lillian Jane?
To William John Pratt in 1944 at St Paul's Parish Church, Dublin

Yes thank you, that’s Thomas’s sister she married William Pratt under special license in Dublin, this was towards the end of WW2. I believe William Pratt was an American citizen of Irish descent. Unless I have the wrong William Pratt linked to Lillian Moore. I believe William’s father was David.
It was a dna match with Lillian’s grandson that I found who my birth father was.
However I have messaged him via ancestry hoping to find more about the family, but unfortunately he has yet to reply.

Hello, I have stumbled across this after googling my late Nans family home.
My Nan was one of the Moore children although her name wasn’t mentioned in your original post. I met many of the Moore siblings.
So I do believe that my Mother is your cousin.
We would like to provide you with more information if you would like.
Hope to hear from you soon

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

There's an Ethel Harriet Moore born 13 May 1916 at Tully. Mother's maiden name mis-transcribed as Berrett (actually Bennett). The informant Thomas R Moore, father.

I would love to see the family tree.
As I said in my original post. My late Nan was one of the Moore siblings. I do believe there was 11 of them altogether. A few of the girls moved to England in their very late teens/early 20’s (my Nan included), married English men and settled here.

Hi Nicki194
Although you have said you believe your mother is my cousin, you haven’t said who your grandmother was, or any details regarding the Moore family.
Could you possibly share some more details other than what I have in my original post, I would be very grateful.
You say some Moore sisters settled in England maybe this is why I am able to locate them.
Kind Regards
