I've found a probable baptism for an ancestor on 10 Dec 1758, St Mary's Cathedral
His name was John Chambers, born to Richard and Catherine
Following the above info, there's some handwriting I can't decipher. Can anybody help me with this, please ?

Transcription on Irish Genealogy.ie has parents Richard & Elinor. However that link goes to 1750 in the register. ???

Two different St. Mary's, one RC and the other Church of Ireland, John baptised to Richard and Elinor 10th December 1758 on IrishGenealogy is Church of Ireland, so the NLI registers will not help
Pro Cathedral was not built until the early 1800s, so a different church was used before then for St. Mary's catholic parish.
p.s. It's a bad, slightly sideways '8'

Thank you. I've looked at the wrong image, I think, and transposed father/son. Where would the church have been in 1758, please ?

Could this one be the one you meant to post - baptism in St. Mary's Church of Ireland in 1788 of a Richard Chambers to John and Catherine (https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/cdc49b0133238)
The Church of Ireland St. Mary's was on Mary Street, most of the building is still there but no longer a church.

The record in the register reads
Richard son of Jno (John) and Cathe (Catherine) Chambers
the date of baptism is 20th January 1788
IrishGenealogy has some possible bothers and a sister, i.e. same surname, same parents first names, same parish : Mary Anne September 1785, [Richard 1788], John May 1795 and John Thomas March 1799

Yes, that's the one I got the original post mixed up with. I'm familiar with the 1788 birth. I was trying to see if there was further info on John Chambers (The father) , but I looked at another Richard son of John, rather than the John son of Richard I was supposed to be looking at.

That explains why, despite enlarging and peering at the register page linked in the first post, I couldn't decipher anything which matched baptism of John Chambers with parents Richard & Catherine.

Apologies. I hadn't realised either that I was looking at a RC baptism, rather than a COI one.
