Title: Christchurch , Skipton parish records
Post by: Bridgebabe on Wednesday 20 October 21 10:44 BST (UK)
Hello, I am sure I used to be able to look at the parish records for Christ Church, Skipton online.  Can't seem to be able to find them now and would be grateful for any help. Looking for Oldfield (various spellings) family, originally of Draughton ( and I understand from ancestry records) in Skipton parish records, and then moved to Ingleton.  Any suggestions and help much appreciated - thank you

The register images are at FindMyPast, and you can browse them by going to Search all records > Yorkshire Parish Registers and Bishop's Transcripts Browse.

Some parishes haven't been fully indexed so this is the only way to get to the images, but I didn't check if this was the case for Christ Church.

Bridgebabe,

As Arthurk said - these records for Christchurch, Skipton in Craven, are on Find My Past. Lots of Oldfields - but you haven't given details of who you are seeking.

Thank you all for this information. I had taken my family line back to Symonde Oldfield ( var spelling of surname) in Skipton Parish, living in Draughton and married to Elizabeth. (From your info from bapt records in Thorlby /Thorlbie in 1602)                                                                                                 My branch of the family moved to Ingleton, (Moorgarth) where Christofer Oldfield b Draughton 1629, son of Thomas Ouldfeeld b 1599  died in 1676.
Why, oh why, weren't maiden names of wives not included?    Thank you all

Will enjoy trawling the Wharfedale site, and also  will see if I can find out where to buy a cd of Skipton Parish records.  I thought it interesting that the descending Oldfield families didn't seem to use the Christian name Simon (Symon) - most of my local Yorkshire/ E Lancs  families tended to use the 'naming pattern'.  Christopher a popular name used.  Thank you

Hello, Thank you for both the family history info and the technical.  I bought yesterday, and will 'import' my son in law to deal with the tech details as you recommend !  Kind regards, Brenda
