Title: 1841 Census St. Paul, Shadwell
Post by: cleoparies on Thursday 01 September 05 01:46 BST (UK)
In 1851, Isabella Huttley, Widow, Age 60, was a beer shopkeeper at #56, 187 High Street, Tower Hamlets, St. Paul Shadwell.  She was also for a short time Isabella Watts and also used the name Elizabeth.   Thanks, Jackie

Hello

I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and noticed this older request.  Wondering if you are still looking for anything on this topic or you have resolved it in the meantime?  If you're still looking, this might be a tough one to find so do you have any further info to add that might assist finding them?

If we don't hear from you in a while, I'll assume the latter and move it to the 'completed' section.

Regards
Biker

Hi Biker:  Unfortunately, still looking.  Don't have any additional information.  She could have had a daughter Mary Anne Huttley Watts with her as Mary Anne wasnt married until 1845.  Isabella's maiden name was Bragg  Thanks for the help.  Jackie

Thanks Biker.  Unfortunately, it just confuses me more.  It seems to me that she was born 1790, married William Huttley in 1811, he died in 1815, she had another child in 1818 called Mary Anne Huttley Watts, widow.  Her daughter, Mary Anne wasn't married until 1845. She was married as Mary Anne Watts. Could you please check on the 1841 census for me and see if you can find either a Mary Anne Watts or a Mary Ann Huttley?  Hopefully, I can keep digging on this problem and get it sorted out.  It looks as though Isobel married between 1815 and 1817 and her husband died before 1818.  Any help you could give would be appreciated.  P.S.  I know William Huttley died in 1815, have his will.   I have the 1851 and 1861 census for Isobel. Thanks,  Jackie

Hello

In 1841 the most likely seems a Mary Hutley, 20 Female Servant, Not born in county, together with other servants to a Ship Owner and family at Union Row Mile End Old Town.  Altough there are various Mary(ann) Watts who could be possibilities too, as this is a more common name.

Thanks for the help, Biker.  That seems a good possibility since her mother Isabell Huttley is also in Mile End Old Town in 1841.  Jackie

My William Bragg was living with his daughter Elizabeth, her husband John Garon and their children in 1841 and thanks to your question, I went back and found that census record on Find My Past.  They were living in Prittlewell, Essex.  Again, Thanks for your question :)
