Can any kind soul please help me find what happened to my Grt Grt Grandma's eldest sister? Jane Pearce was born in 1940 in Wigston (Two Steeples), Leicestershire, England. She is the eldest of 11 children of Sawyer/Woodman Henry Pearce and wife Eliza Goodwin. I have lots of information and even photographs of all the other children and their spouses and families but Jane remains a mystery. I can trace her in England in the 41, 51 and 61 census and then she goes off the radar. I had previously assumed she had died between the 61 and 71 census as I couldn't find a suitable marriage but had found a possible death entry. Every now and again as more archives have come online I have had another dabble and finally I found a marriage that I can say is 100% her. She married Benjamin Bennett on September 8th 1862 in Islington, London he was aged 20. I know it is her as one of the witnesses is one of her sisters husbands; Josiah Monk and the address given is my Pearce family's address from the 1861 census (12, Cottenham Road, Islington). I thought I had cracked it with this new info, but now I can not find them going forward. Can anyone locate them anywhere in Canada after 1862? Several of Jane's Pearce sisters emigrated to Canada but not until much later. Did perhaps Jane & Benjamin Bennett go to Canada first? Any help would be very very much appreciated. ;D

Sandra
The other Pearce sisters who emigrated were Martha born 1847 Lincolnshire married Samuel Moody and Ellen born Islington 1857 married Emile Mottart. They lived in Ontario but didn't emigrate until after 1900. I had amazing help back in 2006 from this board with information on this family. Sadly Jane and Benjamin are not proving to be so easy to find. ???

I did find those Pearce sisters but it didn't lead me anywhere to find Benjamin and Jane unfortunately.

Liking the GRO Pears entry Kloumann, thanks. I have the 41, 51, 61 census entries, including the misspelled one! I've tried looking for Jane & Benjamin around Cullompton where it seems Benjamin came from post marriage but nothing stands out. I have been researching this family since the 1980's :o , they are absolutely my favourite ancestors. Jane is the only one I haven't managed to crack :(
