He's not the man in Queens, NYC in 1925, an undertaker. That man was there in 1910.
He's not the man in Allegheny and Beaver Counties, Pennsylvania. He married in that area in 1903.
He's not the man who died in Delaware County, PA in the 1940s. He was there by 1910.

Could he have returned to Scotland? [Standard answer when you can't find a person in the US after arriving.] :)

Through process of interrogation on the Scotlands People 1911 census I believe that the family (without Charles) may be living in Maryhill Lanarkshire:
Surname Forename Year Gender Age Ref RD Name County/ City Image View
FRIEL HUGH 1911 M 13 644/14 23/ 30 Maryhill Lanark
I did'nt have any credits to check/confirm the 1911 census on Scotlands People.
Daughter Mary (Mary Linden Friel) married a William Sheridan 10th Feb 1923 in Plains, Lanarkshire.
Daughter Annie Friel married Edward Gallacher 14 July 1923 in Plains Lanarkshire. The online tree I found on An..ty shows at least 4 children :
Sarah (Sadie) Gallacher 1924–1999
Patrick Gallacher 1926–2019
Catherine Gallacher 1928–
Charles Gallacher 1930–2010

Charles Friel is my great great grandfather. The family rumour was that he had been "hit by a steamroller" when working in Connecticut. I found a death certificate for a Charles Friel who died in Connecticut in 1924 (timeline works), says he's Scottish rather than Irish (easy mistake to make given that's where he had enetered the US from) and states he's about ten years younger than he actually is. Cause of death was motor vehicle injuries. So while not everything matches I believe that this is Charles' death certificate. His family were supposed to go out and meet him but when he died, this was called off. His family remained in Scotland and some of us are still there to this day. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
