Kent is not in Yorkshire. They are both separate counties many miles apart.
There is no marriage and no birth listed in England www.freebmd.org.uk
Where did you get the info from re her parents names & her mothers maiden name?

You say they arrived in Canterbury in 1874, is this Canterbury, Kent, England or somewhere else.
The only Mary Ann Winder(s)/Yeoman marriage I can see is this one in 1843, Sussex. The groom was William Henry Winder though his father was James

If Mary Ann Yeoman was born 1874 & was 12yrs old on a shipping record - that shipping record must be 1886
Have you looked for the family in England on the 1881 census?

It would seem that with all this confusing as the only information that I ,to go on is on the Marriage certificate printout from BDM from 1882 Mary Ann Yeoman's parents are James & Mary Ann Yeoman nee Winders , and so armed with that I did a search of any family that arrived in Canterbury New Zealand and found only one group before 1882 and this was on the shipping records dated 14.7.1874 as for any other names that are mentioned I am wondering if some how there is a name change completely as if to make it hard for anyone to do research
-
As a check It might be useful to buy one of the births i listed in Reply#7.
It could be an error on Mary Ann’s marriage. Depending on who was answering the question.

Hi MCKHA489
1882 marriage between Mary Ann Yeoman and Charles Fenton at Christchurch
The only information that I have on Parents name are via the marriage certificate printout from BDM NZ from 1882 and on the the maiden name of the mother is given as Mary Ann Winders, but the other information from #7 looks like them, not sure if the Original Certificate will have all details on it
If these are the same people they must have shorten their surnames and their Christian names , which way does a person navigate

The Print out is always the best to get.

Arthur Edward Fenton’s attestation names his mother as Mrs Mary Ann Swan.
https://ndhadeliver.natlib.govt.nz/delivery/DeliveryManagerServlet?dps_pid=IE19123254
I cannot see a marriage to Mr Swan. Did she marry someone else in between?
When Alfred died just Mary Ann Swan named in notice,
Added.. found it, not under Fenton.
1895/3724 Mary Ann Yeoman Robert Swann
So, i wonder if she said anything differently on that marriage reg.
-
I am not certain as when I checked the details of what you found Alfred Edward Fenton died in 1902 aged 42 going by the children of Mary Ann Swann there are none listed , even checking the name Alfred Edward Fenton , nothing shows up, as being born in NZ
Mary Ann Yeoman Married in 1882 to Charles Fenton
Mary Ann Fenton married a Robert Swann in 1895
Either this woman was a quick Divorce from her husbands and remarried just as quick
-
Alfred Edward Fenton , nothing shows up, as being born in NZ
1883/11931 Fenton Caroline Theressa Maud Mary Ann Charles
1884/8816 Fenton Charles Mary Ann Charles
1885/15436 Fenton Gwendoline Albina May Mary Ann Charles
1886/16900 Fenton Arthur Edward Mary Ann Charles
Sorry, that was partly my fault. I did put Arthur in the first part of my earlier post, but also Alfred later, (I always muddle those two names for some reason)
Arthur Edward died in 1921 not 1902.
Did you mean Charles Fenton died in 1902?
Anyway, it would be interesting to know what details she gave at the marriage to Robert Swann.
Or, as I said earlier the birth print out of one of her younger siblings should have mother’s maiden name and place of birth which would confirm or prove wrong the Brewer theory. After all that should (hopefully) be information supplied by Mary Ann (the mother) herself.

I may have to get that printout of the Swann marriage to see if any information is there
at the moment its a minefield with each step of the way
