Hello, am looking for any information on Alexander Graham, who married a woman called Isabella Betty (no surname) in Fermanagh. I don't know his date of birth, but he and Isabella had a daughter called Isabella born in Enniskillen in 1874. I have the family after this, but can't seem to find anything on Alexander or his wife's family before this. It is thought by his granddaughter that Alexander may have been born in Scotland.
If anyone can find, or direct me to further information on his family, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks,
Frosty

Have you searched for his marriage on the website for BMDs, Irish Genealogy.ie?

Added. Was the mother's surname not on baby Isabella's birth registration?

Kiltaglassan beat me to it.
Writing (scrawl) on Isabella's birth registration is hard to make out.
Were there other children? Were they born in Fermanagh? Mother's name should be on their birth registrations too.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Maiden Stone - tried all of the above, but now see that Kiltaglassen has found who I am looking for, amazingly!

Of COURSE her name was BEATTY, not Betty! :P

Thank you so much, Kiltaglassan! Always surprises me how generous people are with their time and efforts on this site - much appreciated.

I put in 1864 as starting year for marriage and got Isabella Beatty.

Would have been good to find a birth place for Alexander, as we would then know where to look for his family, either in Ireland or Scotland - but the documents don't include place of birth, it seems. At least we know his father's name was also Alexander!
Many thanks for your help,

Possible location for Alexander's father - farming at Drumcullion townland in Magheracross civil parish in GV in 1862. It is adjacent to Urbal / Mossfield (in Trory civil parish).

Both townlands just to the east of Enniskillen airport.

Have you found Alexander in any census records? if in Ireland should list county of birth but if Scotland should say born Ireland or somewhere in Scotland.

Thank you, aghadowey,
Can't seem to find an 1871 or 1881 Irish census to look at? Were they destroyed in some way?

The first complete census for Ireland is 1901 (it and 1911 census are online, free) but only a few fragments for earlier ones for a few areas survive.

The original census returns for 1861 and 1871 were destroyed shortly after the censuses were taken. Those for 1881 and 1891 were pulped during the First World War, probably because of the paper shortage.
