Good evening
In researching an ancestor, William Harris, who left England, I found his final residence to be Wanganui where he died 1952. On the family tree research site I found reference to his obituary for 8 August 1952. The Web page makes reference to members of the Rush family including Charles Spurgeon Rush, secretary of United Order of Druids who died 7 August 1952.
I can't help but wonder if reference to the Rush family in my ancestor's obituary is a mistake. At the moment, I can make no connection with the Rushs and my Harris family.
I was hoping through this particular website further information could be accessed as to whether the Rush family were actually mentioned in William's obituary. There is an image but I am not a subscriber.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Amanda,
That appears to be submitted information and has William's parents as Mr and Mrs Rush and siblings and children with the name Rush.
Maybe the submitter has it all very wrong.

The following is the Probate file for William HARRIS - died 1952.

It names his wife and children ... and as a bonus, his death certificate naming his parents, is attached.

Here is a little information regarding "Charles Spurgeon RUSH".

Hi Amanda
And here also is the Probate file for Charles Spurgeon RUSH (to assist in eliminating him).

I've only browsed this file briefly ... and can see no obvious connection to your William HARRIS.
William HARRIS died 5 August 1952 at Wanganui (as you've mentioned) ... and Charles S. RUSH died on 6 August 1952 at Eltham in Taranaki (an adjoining province).
It's probable that their death notices / and or obituaries were published in the same newspaper and on the same day ... and that may be the only connection between these men. ??

Hello again Amanda
Unfortunately our PapersPast website here does not yet cover newspapers for 1952.
The National Library of New Zealand (NatLib) may be able to assist you though with a copy of the items published in the "Wanganui Chronicle" of 8 August 1952. (Request both William HARRIS and Charles S. RUSH items).
Use the "ask a Librarian" facility at the following link >
https://natlib.govt.nz/
Good luck. :)

PS: NatLib temporarily closed due to COVID-19 Lockdown so there may be a delay in obtaining info. ;)

Hi Lu
After many years of searching for William I had the idea to consider he may have emigrated from England and after trawling through many possibilities I hit the jackpot when I found his probate. His death certificate was the best piece of evidence I could have hoped for. New Zealand probate records are worth their weight in gold.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Amanda.

I am of the same opinion. These two gentlemen have no connection. William was a stock inspector so unless he was also a druid I see no connection.
Thank you.
