Title: Bastardy Bonds
Post by: robert g shaw on Monday 16 August 21 16:18 BST (UK)
Hi

Does anybody know where i can view Bastardy Bonds please?

Ive read in a local history book that there was a Bastardy Bond taken out against a William Hill in 1802, as he was cited as the father of Mary Fodens child. (Probably Ockbrook/Borrowash).

There were "Fodens" in the area, an unusual name.. but i cannot trace any child (unknown name) being born to a Mary Foden at all, let alone in 1802. Nor can i find a likely Mary Fodens birth in the area or any mention of her afterwards, except for a Mary marrying John Arnold at Ockbrook in 1807

TIA

Usually to be found in the local archives - rarely online.
Try Derbyshire Archives.

The question is... which son of William Hill? Samuel or William junior?.
