Where have the US newspapers gone? The only options I have are British, Irish and PERiodical Source Index.

If you choose "All Record Sets" from Quick Links on the home page, then United States and specify newspapers - there is a list of available items.

FindMyPast's contract with the supplier came to an end and they decided not to renew.
Per an answer quoted on the FindMyPast Forum "We made the decision not to give notice of the removal as it's a small number of users who are affected."

Far out, the newspaper collection was one of the best things about FindMyPast. That's a big drop in value for my money, and pretty poor form that they didn't notify subscribers.
-
It's only the US newspapers that have gone. British and Irish ones (and a few from far flung places) are still there.
-
I know. I use them all, and it was great to have access to British, Irish and US in one handy place. Now I'll need to think about whether to get a subscription somewhere else.

For such a small part of the offering going, I'd simply save up the searches until I could get to a public library.
Coming back to a search is a great way to review what you did up until that point, and what notes you made (or failed to make) .

Were they from newspaperarchive.com

There's always
https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/
Plenty of US newspapers for free.

There were Canadian newspapers in that collection as well. Many of FMPs Canadian records can be found elsewhere for free. The FindMyPast Canadian newspaper collection was something I couldn't find anywhere else, and added value to my Findmypast.com subscription. As others have said, I will be rethinking my subscription when it comes up for renewal in a couple of weeks.

In addition to Chronicling America, some digitized newspapers can be found at fultonhistory. com and others at state archives and universities.

Thanks for the links.
I just went to look up something in a US newspaper and realized they were missing from FindMyPast. I use that resource all the time and am very disappointed that they didn't have the courtesy to inform their users.
