Can anyone help, please? I am trying to find the marriage record of Malcolm McGougan (or McGugan or McGagan) born Gigha, Scotland in 1840, sailed to Canada sometime between 1867 and 1872 and married Euphemia Brodie, probably in Ekfrid township Middlesex County Ontario in c. 1844 and censuses show her as Brodie in Ontario in 1851, 1861 and '71. Son Hugh was born in 1872 so I am assuming the marriage was before then. All six children were born in Ekfrid township, Middlesex county, Ontario. they seemed to be big church (Free Presbyterian) people so I am assuming they did get married.

He settled in 1868 https://digital.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/showrecord.php?PersonID=99523
Don't see a marriage at Family Search has children's info.
This link will tell what is available through the former OGS.

How about McGahan...or... McGuigan...McGoohan ? McGeoghan
Think of accents to an ear unused to them ...some of the surname may be "slurred"
and some letters unpronounced when saying

Thanks to all that replied to my request for help. It is somewhat gratifying to know that I haven't missed something obvious as I had searched high and low without success. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Civil registration did not begin in Ontario until 1869 and adherence was spotty during the first few years, so not unusual not to find a record until compliance became more widespread.
