Can anyone assist to identify a boys boarding school in this period in Cheltenham? I am researching my sister in law's father and all she knows is that he attended a boarding school there, recalling him speaking of it. He is now deceased. He was born 1925/26 and she believes he went at the age of 8. I have looked on the Gloucs Archives site and done a general search on the internet to no avail.
We are hoping to find more details re him if the school had/has accessible records surviving and we would be able to access/contact each establishment and hopefully identify the school he attended. Thank you for reading and offering any names of schools.

Still in existence:
Dean Close
Cheltenham College
Unlikely to be still going but advertising in the early 1930's:
The Irving Academy
Douglas House

Thank you. I will research them further, the last two could be promising.

This might be worth downloading at £6.95: https://www.twrcomputing.co.uk/acatalog/Built-Leonard-s-Directory-of-Cheltenham---County-for-1935--Digital---Download--GLS1935BLDL.html#SID=64

Thank you. I shall suggest it.

Have you tried doing a search for him on the 1939 register?
If the register was compiled during term time I would have thought that should show him there.

Yes, it was the first place I looked. It is quite complex as he seems to have left a trail of mysteries ie his parents, which she is gradually attempting to solve from the little he said. The school route is one such trail which may give more info, if he can be identified!
