Title: Photos of inmates 1880’s mount joy
Post by: Dublingal on Sunday 18 July 21 12:20 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if photos were taken of all inmates sent to Mountjoy? My great great grandfather was there in 1887 (1 week hard labour) for assaulting a police officer.
Just be interested if they can be viewed if so!

I was reading somewhere  that after 1869 photograph's were only taken of habitual offenders who resorted to using ''aliasus's'' when rearrested for a second offence.previous offences meant stiffer sentences the second time around.
