Title: Deciphering town name in Galway Ireland

Hi

Hoping someone can tell me the name of the town in in County Galway where my great grandfather was born.  The closest I can get is Kilimar but can't find any town by that name.  I have a possible birth record for the parish of Cummer but can't find any town similar.

Any help would be appreciated.

The second one certainly looks like Kilimar, so possibly Killimor, as suggested by Brentor boy.

I think the 2 names look completely different, though, even disregarding the fact that the first one has been amended.

I think the first one looks more like Kiliann/Kiliarn - but that doesn't seem to exist. There is a Killine in Galway, but that's a bit of a long shot...

then scroll down to the very long list of every townland in Galway, it is likely going to be one of those.

A thought: why did they not write 'ditto' if the two names are the same ? This suggests they are two different places. Unless, that is, the word 'ditto' was not used in other entries that are definitely the same.

Kilconieran townland in Kilconierin civil parish, actually closer to Athenry.

Hi, the first name is Killaan which is a civil parish in Galway sometimes used in official correspondence.
The second name looks like Killimor which is small village and the name of a catholic parish in Co. Galway also.
