Hi, can anyone give me the highlights of this will written by William Coombes please? I can't read anything at all so would be grateful for the highlights and who he left his estate to. Many thanks

It's very wordy isn't it?! I can't make head nor tail of it....are there any other beneficiaries? Or nuggets of info in there?

Waterman being of sound & disposing mind & understanding
praised be God for the same I give devise & bequeath unto Mr
Joshua Thorne of Old [ ] near Stony Stratford in the County
of Bucks Shipwright Mr John Buxton of Norfolk place East
Lane Walworth (?) in the County of Surry Gent & the Survivor of

according to the nature thereof All my freehold & leasehold
Estate & all other my Estates of or in any lands tenements or heredite-

Susannah Coombs to receive for her own use & benefit the rents

after her decease it is to be divided amongst his children still living and their children - no names mentioned in this first clip

Brilliant, thank you. Could the missing street lane at the top be Hog Lane? His death record in the church says that's where he lived at the time of demise?

Clip 2 is very fuzzy. It is very difficult to make out as it pixelates too easily.
It would have been better to post, say half a page at a time, and get a bigger file size (This applies to the whole will really. There are a couple of words on the first clip that cannot be deciphered because the letters of the words cannot be clearly seen).
Susannah also gets
all my household furniture plate linen china & the sum of three hundred pounds to & for her own use & benefit.......
His executors are his wife and his two trustees Joshua Thorne and John Buxton.
The children seem to only be refered to as ‘such children then living’.
It sounds as if they have yet to reach 21 years of age.

Yep. I'd say 'Hog Lane'.
And I think Joshua Thorne lives at 'Old Stratford' near Stony Stratford

Thank you for digging this will up. Bill was the son of Samuel Coombes (he took the e out) and Samuel was the son of another William Coombes born 1700 (can't find anything beyond him). Bill Coombs was father of Robert Smith Coombs who went to India and family stayed there for 5 generations. I'm of that line so pleased to learn about Hog Lane! Woolwich obviously where Robert sailed from, but with East India Company back then. Cheers, Alistair
ps Bill was 1749 - 1793 from what I can see so don't know what the 18 signifies on will.
