Title: Tripettin Hall
Post by: kenny2018 on Friday 09 July 21 07:03 BST (UK)
I have a marriage of a Charles BIRD in Australia in 1867.. in the paper it mentions he is the only son of Charles BIRD esq of Tripettin Hall , Worcester.   I cannot find any mention of this place.. maybe misspelt ?

Ken.

Do you have the marriage certificate? What is his mother’s name? What is the father’s occupation?

I thought to look for them on the 1861 census. I found a family with father Charles, mother Fortune and child Charles. Both Charles are Chemists. Just wondering if they are your family? They are not living at “Tripettin Hall” at that time. Charles is the only child in the family and there are several servants.

Added: a very quick look doesn’t find any of the family on the 1871 census.

And when was Charles born??

Worked in Worcestershire for many years but I can't think of anywhere that might be mistranscribed as Tripettin Hall  :-\

Having said the above could Trippettin be a mis-spelling of Tibberton if said quickly  :-\   However I have never heard of a Tibberton Hall https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WOR/Tibberton

In 1851 Charles snr is widowed and with Charles John.

Charles snr married Fortune Ann Sayce in 1852.

Fortune dies first quarter 1871 so no clues there.

From GRO Index.
Birth. Charles John Bird. Sep Q 1844. Worcester. Mmn Turner.
From Family Search.
Possible Marriage. Charles Bird/Mary Ann Turner. 27 July 1843. Pembridge, Herefordshire.
Possible death. From GRO Index. Mary Ann Bird.  Sep Q 1846. Worcester. Age 30.

All very speculative!

My Charles John Bird was apparently born 1815 in Worcester.. was a Chemist in Gulgong, NSW 1871 - 1879... There was another Charles John Bird in the next town in the same period who died in 1884 (age 39).. this sounds like the boy on the 1851 & 61
 census

I know this is not Tripettin Hall, but when I was looking for Charles Birds in Worcestershire I came across a place called Wribbenhall. It probably doesn’t help but I wonder if the place name might be (something that sounds like) Tripettinhall, rather than being a Hall as we might think of them today?

Newspapers often get place names wrong, so it is probably best to get the certificates, look at censuses for places of birth, abodes etc.
