Hello from Australia, My 2xgr.Grandmother Bridget Houlihan possibly spelled Houlahan was born in Mallow, Cork abt. 1835 according to info. on D.C. She emigrated to Australia possibly with sister
Catherine date unknown. She married in Sydney in 1856. Her parents were John Houlahan and Mary Sullivan. It is possible she and her sister emigrated alone without parents. No emigration records located as yet.
I am trying to trace this family in Ireland. My question is: where would I look in church records for a baptism in Mallow, Cork? (possibly Catholic records) Thankyou.
Regards,
Jen.

Catholic parish registers are digitised here, but you really need to know exactly where the events took place.
https://registers.nli.ie/
Ancestry has some indexes to the Catholic registers.
Debra :)

Thanks Debra, I do not know anything of the areas of Mallow which may have been relevant in 1835.
I presume Catholic parishes were limited to just a few at that time. That is why I am looking for
guidance here to narrow the field down.

Is this the marriage record?
NSW BDM NSW
679/1857 HOULIHAN Bidget marr. MELL John @ Sydney
Can you please list all the information on the marriage certificate.
Can you please list all the information on her death certificate.

Thanks Wivenhoe, No, not correct marriage. DC records born Cork, 1835, 52 years in colony.
A family researcher has advised me that the place of birth was Mallow, Cork. I have all the info.
I need after her arrival in Aust. Am looking to trace her family before her arrival in Aust.

"... I have all the info. I need after her arrival in Aust. Am looking to trace her family before her arrival in Aust...."
If her name on a marriage certificate is the earliest confirmed evidence you have so far that your Bridget ever existed, you need to see this document.
Can you please list all the information on her death certificate.

I have listed all relevant information from DC regarding her Ireland connection. I have posted on the Cork board as I am seeking to find information on earlier generations in Ireland.

Hello cork_Irel. Sorry for the delay in responding, I seem to have missed your post before now.
Thankyou for the baptism record it does look promising as a sibling to Bridget
Houlihan. I have no knowledge of Cork, would the record you located be in the
same area as Bridget's baptism in the Townland of Knockanannig?

Mallow area is a long way from Castletownbere area (far SW)...over 75 miles......a long way in the 1840's.
