Hello, seeking to find details of John Mathias Fogarty, b. 17998, married 18?? to Margaret Bowen. I believe both were born in Drom, Tipperary, but could be wrong.
I know they had two children, both born in Drom.
Margaret Fogarty b. 1832 and Annie Fogarty b. 1843.
Margaret and Annie migrated to Melbourne Australia, sometime prior to 1855 marriage of Margaret.
Margaret married a Roderick Ryan (another brickwall) in 1855.
Annie married Michael Hoare in 1868, then married John Joseph Rosney in 1888. Annie built the Auburn Hotel, 85 Auburn Rd, Hawthorn East, Melbourne.
I hope my research is correct as I have found Margaret and Annie had two other sisters, Mary and Ellen.
Any assistance is extremely helpful and grateful.
Regards Darryl.

Can you check your TROVE site for their names and the ship name please.

Maggsie, as far as i know the parents did not come to Australia.
Never hurts to re visit Trove as they add lots of new scans each month, but so far no luck.
Its the parents and back i would like assistance with.
Darryl.

The Catholic registers for Drom and Inch start in 1827 so if they married in the same parish it may have been too early for surviving records.

Thank you Debra.
If going by naming convention, I'm thinking it took a while before a son come along, in John jr.
Would Patt be short for Patricia?
-
Most likely Patrick. If you go through the Drom parish registers you can see the sponsors' names. It helps to build family groups when no earlier registers exist. Patrick's sponsors were Michael FOGARTY and Mary BOWEN.

Thank you Debra, I missed the Patrick listed down lower, which shows the same handwriting as my Patrick.
