Title: Mackay Fraser
Post by: Janna on Tuesday 30 August 05 08:51 BST (UK)
I am searching the parents or siblings of Donald Mackay whom I believe married Jane Fraser at Eddrachallis 30 May 1823. It is thought that he was born about 1796 at Duartmore (?).  They had eight children, five of whom went to New Zealand. Jane was apparently born Glen Douiene, and any information of her family would be great too

Jane was from Glendow which seems to have been an estate eventually either bought or run by Charles Clark - a southerner.  There were very few Frasers in Eddrachillis during that period but two males crop up married and with families about that time.  One is Robert Fraser my own gt, gt grandfather and the other is William who had two daughters Ann and Betty.  I can only speculate that Jane was their sister or possibly the older daughter of William as I have been told that the two male Frasers living in Achlyness came originally from Glendow - this is hearsay within the family.
