I have been told that my paternal grandfather, Arthur Sidney Platt, served in the Army presumably during the second world war. When he was alive he never mentioned it and I only found out after his death that he had served with REME.
Given that this is all I know is there any way I can trace his service history?
Any help gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris

His record will be held by the MOD but you can apply for a copy, cost £30.
Details here: www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
Warning....there can be a long wait!

Good morning Nanny Jan,
Thank you for your reply and I will try that. It doesn't matter if there is a wait, I am in no rush.
Kind regards and stay safe.
