Hi,
I am searching the Peet family. Some live in Nottingham and some are based around Leicestershire.
I am trying to find the parents of Joseph Peet. On his marriage record to Sarah Sansome (nee Watts) his father is name Thomas. But, I cannot trace Thomas’s birth or marriage.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks

I think more details are needed first. This is all a bit vague.
You say you have seen Joseph's marriage to Sarah Sansome,
What date was this, and where did it take place?
-
Joseph Peet was married to Sarah Sansome on 9/2/1846 in Loughborough.
Thomas Peet is on their marriage record as his father but I have been unable to find a definite record for Thomas about his birth or who he married etc.
Thanks

As this is after 1837, it should give you lots more information on the marriage certificate.
What was Joseph's occupation, and his place of residence?
What was Sarah's place of residence?
What was his father's occupation?
Does it say if his father was still alive, or deceased?
Was the marriage by banns or licence?
Who were the witnesses?
All this information can help put together a picture of the people involved, and give clues which might lead to further discoveries.

According to the census Joseph was born 1821 in Lambley, Nottinghamshire
He was a framework knitter.
Marriage of Joseph Peet and Sarah (Waters) Sansome – I have not been able to find the original document to get more detail.

I am not convinced this is the correct family so … ???
Hopefully someone can find the marriage record to confirm if Joseph’s father was a lace manufacturer.

The original certificate states Joseph Peet married Sarah Sansome on 9th February 1846. Father's are Thomas Peet, framework knitter and John Waters also framework knitter as are the couple themselves.
Living in Brook Street, Sheepshed at the time of marriage.

There is a marriage for a Thomas Peet to a Mary Harris on 28th November 1814 in the parish of Lutton, Linclonshire. One of the witnesses is a Thos Peet, Thomas's father perhaps?

I think that James Peet is son of James and Elizabeth. See here:

However, I notice there is a baptism for Elizabeth 11 Nov 1814 to parents Thomas Peet (framework knitter) and Elizabeth. This is also in Arnold which is very close to Lambley.

Well found.
Also a baptism at Arnold of Hannah Peet to Thomas and Elizabeth, 28 October 1810.
Joseph Peet, son of Thomas, still elusive!

Thank you all for responding to my plea.
I have just picked this up again and I will research all of your information. I am looking at this for a good friend of mine as I have completed the current research on my own family tree.
I am always amazed at all of those who help amateur genealogists like me.
If I can help any of you please just email me. I have lived in Nottinghamshire all of my life so have lots of local knowledge.
Thanks a lot!
