Title: looking at records on Suffolk Archives Website
Post by: mckha489 on Tuesday 25 May 21 12:08 BST (UK)
I have registered on the Suffolk Archives website. and I can search, but when I try and look at a document eg https://www.suffolkarchives.co.uk/collections/getrecord/GB174_IC_500_1_116_27. no matter where I try and log in,  (so far I have found three places to do it) , it seems to accept my username and password OK, but nothing happens.

What is the trick?

If I log in and click the link in your email, I get to a screen which invites me to purchase a copy.

There must be something wrong with my log in credentials then. A job for the morning.

Thank you

Same problem here, three tries using the link at the top of the page, once somewhere else, and finally one at the bottom left hand side of a page. None seemed to do anything, but when I clicked on the main logo at top left it showed I was logged in.

Perhaps it's a browser problem. I've had similar problems with buttons missing and links not functioning with some websites when using Internet explorer, but those same websites work fine with Google Chrome.

Update.

After a whole lot of faffing around, removing cookies, downloading Edge at Suffolk Archives suggestion.

It turns out that Suffolk Archives have their site geo-blocked. Perhaps entirely by accident.
I got in using a VPN. And it is fine with my normal browser so thank goodness can get rid of Edge!

But my daughter tried as if from Canada - same issue as I have from NZ. Seems Australia works OK. (Typical)  ;D ;D
