Does anyone know anything about a Watts Studio and I am pretty sure it says Toowoomba?
I have a portrait postcard and this is stamped on it. From the clothing and hairdo it looks like it could have been taken in the 1860's.
Thanks.

Earliest Trove result for Watt's Studio Toowoomba is in 1908, where they say they are new artists who have bought Deazeley's

I think this fits with it being a postcard? Maybe it is a photo of an older photo?

Why not post it on the Date Old Photographs board

Lots of experienced people can help with the dating by clothing etc, and then you may be able to assess whether it is a reprint as Matthew suggests. :) As a help, divided back postcards were introduced in 1905. Plain ones were allowed from about 1895 I think in Australia.

Thank you for all your replies.
The photo belongs to my cousin and we are trying to work out who the 3 x Great Grandma is. I will need to seek her permission first before I post it.
I do live in Canberra and someone suggested I could probably have it dated here at one of the Institutions. Maybe the National Portrait Gallery or the National Library or Australian Archives.
