Hi,
I am looking for more info on James Byrne, who per census records was born c.1868 in ireland. Here he is 1900 in California with his wife Margaret and children
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M9G4-RXH
He died and Margaret remarried, here she is in 1910
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MVGQ-Y3S
I have come across this grave which is a possiblilty for James Byrne in 1903
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/80002804/james-byrne
One of the photos has the surnames Weber(wifes second marriage) Amend (one of his daughters married name was Amend)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K98Y-HPJ
It is difficult to read the age of death but it does say he was from Dublin.
I would like to find when James Byrne came to the USA and parents if possible but as he was born in Ireland he may have come over by himself.
His wifes parents were William and Mary Duggan and she was born in Massachusetts as per census records.

Ya, thats what I was thinking when I was trying to read the age, I suspected it said 70 something. It also says "single" in the description which confuses things...

I presume the obit gives no further info?

Have you seen this tree on family search - says James Burns was born 1842 and Margaton Ann Duggan 1847

Well that solves that then. Thank you RJ.
So the James Byrne on findagrave that I linked to is unrelated to my James Byrne. It's very odd that a photo of that stone with Weber and Amend are attached to that page.

Amend refers to the following:

Charles Elmer Amend: b. Canada, wife Alice

Maybe someone can pull up Margaret's obit:
Weber refers to the following:

What I find odd is that James Bryne is buried in plot - G 21 27 2.
Margaret Weber died in 1947. She is buried in plot - G 21 27 2 also.

That 75-year-old James Byrne seems listed at that cemetery and plot number seems out of place with everything else...very strange?
-
Here's a link to the Holy Cross-Colma Cemetery Index. You can do a search by name or by plot. Plot G 21 27 gave lots of names. The dates listed on the results are burial dates. The James Byrne in plot- G 21 27 is listed as with a burial date of 12 July 1902.

Great work guys, thanks.
Very confusing that his wife went into the plot with the other seemingly unrelated, 75 year old, James Byrne. Very odd. A mix up of some sort?
Going by the obit of the real James Byrne that I am looking for - he has aged by 12 years. He was down as 32 years in 1900. If he truly was closer to 46 years then thats a pity, I thought I might be able to catch him in the Irish civil records starting 1864.

No, her memorial has the correct grave site location. The James who dies in Apr has the wrong gravesite information. I have entered a memorial for James and am trying to get the photo of the 3 names moved to the correct memorial.

Ah ok, so that was just a findagrave mix up then.
Thanks

Looks like everything has been straightened out on the findagrave memorial.

Great work.
I dont seem to be able to add additional remarks in my OP but in any case its all in the thread.
Next step would be trying to find immigration documents I suppose unless I can get a death cert with parents names on it perhaps?
Going by the 1900 census it states he emigrated to the USA in 1885.
-
hmm, ok, looks like I'm out of luck regards marriage or death certs pre 1906 for San Francisco.
So just the immigration documents then

Thanks.
He's getting a bit older with every record!
Definately born mid 1850's, Ireland anyway.
