Title: Birth - Edward Tierney in Leggetsrath Kilkenny
Post by: EileenBlacklock on Saturday 01 May 21 11:55 BST (UK)
According to the census, Edward Tierney was born in 1838 in Leggetsrath.

I am looking for his birth record where I might find out who his parents were.

I would be grateful of any help. Thanks

which census please ?
Leggetsrath. Kilkenny is in St John’s civil parish
have you seen the Tithes records then Griffiths Valuation
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?surname=tierney&firstname=&county=Kilkenny&parish=&townland=&search=Search
in the later is griffiths valuation https://www.failteromhat.com/post1845.php
which has
Tierney   James    Cellarstown West   St. Johns   Kilkenny
see https://www.townlands.ie/kilkenny/kilkenny/st-johns/kilkenny-rural/cellarstown-west/  that’s the same parish so there maybe a connection

there were Tierneys living in St Johns in 1901 census even an Edward Tierney aged 64 living with family at 30 in Maudlin Street (Kilkenny Urban, Kilkenny)
see http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Kilkenny/Kilkenny_Urban/Maudlin_Street/1449967/
not sure i can help further
