I'm looking for the birth and parents of Michael Hanning, living in Gold Storey, NV in the 1880 Census, born Canada ca. 1834. His wife Mary (Farley) was born in Ireland ca. 1836, and his eldest daughter Margaret was born in Maine 1860-1861. Thank you.

Thank you all.
Yes I believe this Michael Hanning was the son of John Hanning of Prussia and Deborah (Brackett?) of St John, New Brunswick. I now believe that Malcolm Hanning reference was in error.
Thank you for finding this Farley family, that might be John's wife Mary among them. I'll look into it.
Thanks again.

Please note re 1860 census
I reported Laurens/Lawrence Fordy was 50 and his wife Mary 52, that's what it looked like to me, however on ancestry it has been transcribed as 60 and 62 respectively.
They may be right
1870 census Bangor Penobscot Maine
Mary Forthy 75 born Ireland
Kate Riley 34 born Ireland
Thomas Riley 9 born Maine
Ellen Riley 11 born Maine
Mary Riley 12 born Maine.
Lawrence Forthy must have died and possibly James Riley as well, the census only gives gender and race not marital status.
1880 Penobscot Maine Ellen Riley 20 is a servant.
ADDED
1880 census Bangor Penobscot Maine
Mary A Riley 23 born Maine servant.

You have the maiden name as Farley perhaps it should be Farthy ref the death of Margaret/ Mamie as found by Sandra, or Fordy.
Few could write and the census and other officials are writing down what they hear.
Plus
Mary A Riley age 34 domestic, married Thomas Gallagher age 44 Clerk on 14 August 1893 in Arlington Massachusetts St Malachy Church recorded on the 16th.
Her parents are James Riley and Catherine Fardy
His parents Patrick Gallagher and Margaret McGuire
Her mother Catherine Fardy surely is the sister to Mary Fardy/Forthy who married Michael Hannon as they are all living together in 1860. Over time Hannon has become Hanning

Yes, I think it's very likely the same family. I need to really examine this closely, I've learned with Irish immigrants that it's important to be very careful before reaching any conclusions. There are some immigration records for individuals similar names that raise the possibility of different persons. Thanks.
