Hello All,
Looking for any information on the Nursing Mother / Mother Nurse "Mrs Malone", in Dublin, in 1933 (and the surrounding period).
In today's world, they would be known as Foster Parents. These women took in babies/children from the Mother & Baby Homes and other institutions.
I don't have a first name, unfortunately.
Does anybody know whether they had to be registered? Whether they were connected to particular institutions or could take in babies from anywhere?
Would be great to find out who Mrs Malone was.
Thanks very much,
Glen

only maternity homes had to be registered starting from 1934. I read somewhere that records of children who were 'boarded out' were kept by the local health boards at the time as the family were paid for the child's keep. Do you have an address for Mrs malone? Tusla might have records.
