On the 1857 Griffiths Valuation of Ireland there is a John Hanl(e)y residing at a house on Plot 12 - this is just to the left of Salmons Lane in Ballyleague (see attached map). On the 1901 Census a Francis Hanly is living with his family in Ballyleague see http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Roscommon/Cloontuskert/Ballyleague/1668240/ . Francis Hanly married Catherine Johnston on the 26th April 1874. Francis Hanly was born in 1851 so could well be the brother of Francis. Francis' marriage certificate states that he was living at Salmonslane and his father was Patrick Hanly, labourer.
