Title: Quaker families in the Dunster area of Somerset
Post by: Twdyr on Thursday 08 April 21 15:32 BST (UK)
I am trying to trace the origins of a Virginia 'Hughes' Quaker family, that may have originated from the Dunster / Doniford area. Possible emigration 1640-80. There are number of Hughes/Huyish/Hewes in Dunster from parish records.
Does anyone know if Dunster had a Quaker community or meeting house in the 17th century? Any suggestions gratefully received with thanks.
Philip

There was-and is- a Meeting House at Minehead-which is near to both Dunster and Doniford

Some info about seventeenth century Quakers in Minehead here:

You are welcome! I used to work in Minehead, and often used the Quaker Meeting House to host community meetings/support groups.
