Title: Which Court of Petty Sessions, Galway ?
Post by: dickydoremouse on Wednesday 07 April 21 16:00 BST (UK)
Thomas Augustine O'Rourke (b. in Leeds 1864) worked in Galway for the Marconi company from about 1907/1908. He married Maria Madden in Oct 1909 in Clifden. I have been told that Maria left the family home at one point and with the help of her brother took away a sewing machine and possibly other items. Her husband took her to court on Dec 7th 1914 and she brought a counter claim against him for desertion and neglect of his wife and children. My problem is that I don't know which court would have heard this case. Thomas's working address was Derrygimla. Maria came from Ballinaboy. So any ideas which Petty Sessions heard the case?
Grateful, as ever, for any help.

there are several cases mentioning this couple on FindMyPast petty session court details, most as O Rorke and mentioning Derygimla, all under Clifden court.

some of the cases may have been more serious so ended up at higher courts

Thanks for the info. I did look in the Clifden records but found nothing. I shall have to look again.
