My mother's first cousin was Ellen O'Malley nee Morrin born in 1913 in Kilbride, Owenbrin, Mayo. I was told by a relative that she married an O'Malley from the Hollymount area and lived there. I have been unable to find any other information about her and her family. I have no information on the name of her husband and couldn't find a marriage record for them in the civil records. Thank you for any help that you could provide.

Welcome to RootsChat.
Did they have children and if so when were they born? As they may be alive don't name them, just give approximate birth years so we can work out when marriage may have occurred.
Was Mr. O'Malley Ellen's first husband?
Did Ellen have another forename?
Did either Ellen or her husband live outside Ireland? Have you searched for a marriage outside Ireland?
Could an alternative for Morrin be Moran?
I couldn't find a marriage either.

I know nothing about Ellen's husband or children so there is very little to go on. As far as I know her maiden name was always spelled Morrin. Her parents were Patrick and Mary Joyce Morrin of Kilbride. Owenbrin.

Welcome from me too :)
There is this family in 1911 - I hope it’s yours and am posting it just to clarify the name

Yes, that is my great-grandparents and family. I am trying to find out what happened to Ellen after that. I know for sure that her married name was O'Malley and that she lived past 1996.
-
I can’t find her birth - do you have it?
Did they marry in Mayo?
-
That I don't know.

Here is her birth

Thank you for that. The only Ellen O'Malley I found was a gravesite in Robeen Graveyard. There is no birth or age given so I can't verify if it was my great-aunt. This gravesite also has husband Thomas O'Malley.

Ellen's birth registration. Birth registration Ballinrobe S.R. district, Cappaduff district.
Birth 1st January 1914, place Kilbride. Father Pat, dwelling place Kilbride. Mother Mary (Joyce). Registered 26th Feb.

Edit. Heywood's found it.

Thank very much to both of you. I am sorry I have very little to go on. My mother immigrated very young and lost contact with this side of her family. My first cousin is the one who came up with the information about Ellen living in Hollymount area.

This site has an index for births, marriages and deaths
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Searching for O’Malley/Morrin births brings up three definite - 2 Ballinrobe and one Castlebar.
We can’t post the names as they could still be alive.
Added
Other matches show ‘Moran’ etc.

Marriage of Annie - a witness is Ellen Morrin. 1939

That's her Ellen's younger sister Annie Philbin.
-
Ellen must have married after 1939 if she is still named Morrin on Annie's marriage record.

There is a marriage for Eileen* Morrin in Ballinrobe Dist 1947 to Thomas Omalley the online view certs dont show up to 1947. There are 2 births to Morrin/Omalley in Ballinrobe Michael 1948 and Patrick 1949.
The graves you mentioned address Togher which is in Hollymount Dist plus she died after 1996 which again seems to be another clue. I have looked at the Newspapers for all the names and dates on the graves for an obituary but cant find any.
If you google Michael Omalley Togher Hollymount there is a death notice for a man died 2004 died Luton from Togher, the age is 66 which matches 1948 birth, sadly only his own family mentioned no sibling or parents.
-
Thanks very much for finding that. It makes sense that the name Eileen and Ellen could be confused on the marriage record. I also found an obituary Patrick O'Malley in 2013 from Robeen that agrees with the 1949 birth you mentioned.

Hi Mary, I'm Ellen's granddaughter. I know my brother was in contact with a cousin on one of the ancestry websites so you may have already been in touch with him. Sadly my father is the only remaining member of that family as his parents & brothers have passed away. I can only remember a few trivial details about my grandmother from childhood & I recall meeting her sister in my early teens... I don't know if any of the details I have would be of much interest but if you like feel free to message me in private.
