Looking for any info. On the above, who lived at Llechwedd du Mawr.
-
To prevent duplication of efforts - what research have you already done yourself?
Have you found him on census records? www.familysearch.org
Who did he marry & when? www.freebmd.org.uk
Who were his parents
There is no Lloyd John birth 1893-1895 so do you mean John Lloyd?
-
Hi Carol yes John Lloyd. I have looked on the 1939 census, other than this I cannot seem to find any info. It looks like his father died young and maybe the family split up?
Kind regards
-
Perhaps you would like to give us the details you found for him and others in the property on the 1939 register (including address)

date of birth given on 1939 was 18 Nov 1894. There's a school admission record for Penrhyndeudraeth Board School in 1903 for a John Lloyd born 18 Nov 1894, parent Ellis of Hengaewan, Minffordd. He left March 6 1908 to go to Talsarnau.

Thankyou so much! This is amazing . It proves what I suspected , which was that John’s father must have died in a coal mining accident. Do you know how I might find out more about the accident?
Kind regards and thankyou so much.
-
On the newspaper it says Oddfellows and Druids came to pay their respects, can I ask if anyone knows who they are ?
-
Not coal mining in that area, but quarrying - his occupation in 1901 was quarry rockman, could be a slate quarry. There's no mention of him dying in an accident in the report of the funeral although it's quite possible he did. You could get a copy of the death certificate to find out cause of death.
Burial 18 July 1903 Llanfihangel y Traethau Ellis Lloyd 27 of Ty Gwyn Talsarnau
Oddfellows and Druids are benevolent societies

Hi
I see that you've got a very comprehensive Family Tree on Ancestry.
You don't have a death date for Mary Jones 1871 - ? , wife of Ellis Lloyd 1877-1903. Gravestone inscription:
Er serchog goffadwriaeth am ELLIS LLOYD, Bwlch Glas, Llanfrothen, yr hwn a fu farw, Gorphenaf 14, 1903 yn 27 mlwydd oed. "Am hynny byddwch chwithau barod; canys yn yr awr ni thybioch y daw Mab y dyn". Hefyd ei briod MARY LLOYD, yr hon a fu farw Medi 27, 1933 yn 62 mlwydd oed.
Llanfihangel y Traethau Burial Register gives his abode as Ty Gwyn, Talsarnau, his family home as opposed to Bwlch Glas at the time of death. Died 14/07/1903, buried 18/07/1903. The quotation is biblical.
Parish Register gives Mary's burial date as 30/09/1933 (died 27th) at Las Ynys Fawr and comments "As certified by Evan Lloyd - son".

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

I received the death certificate today. Ellis Lloyd died at Ty Gwyn Talsarnau Phthesis. I looked it up and it said T.B? Present at death was Robert Jones , Hen Gaeau. I assume he was a neighbour?
-
Hi
Variation of "Hen Gaeau" has been mentioned by Osprey, but slight mis-spelling :
There's a school admission record for Penrhyndeudraeth Board School in 1903 for a John Lloyd born 18 Nov 1894, parent Ellis of Hengaewan, Minffordd. He left March 6 1908 to go to Talsarnau.
It's not far from Bwlch Glas, Minffordd . These places are very close to Minffordd Quarry; he could have been a Rockman there (granite not slate).

the school record is in reply# 4 and is what allowed me to identify the family.
