Hi RootsChat members, can anyone advise me if and perhaps how I could access details of the following. I am trying to establish the parentage of William and was hoping that there may be a clue in these records. His place of Birth is given in various Censuses as Great Clacton, Bristol and Newport Monmouthshire.

The worldwide army index for 1871 has a William James in the 50th (The Queen's Own) Regiment Of Foot. Regimental number 1410.
