Title: Hicks or Wicks?

Can anyone here make out what the bride's surname is in this Kent marriage from 1610. The groom is John Bing and her first name is Jone. I can't decide if her surname is "Wicks" or "Hicks", or even "Nicks". Can anyone offer a suggestion?

I would say that the first letter is the same as the w  in were married.

I've now looked at other letters on the page  (e.g. William above and hunt which is very different ) and I do think it is  Wicks.

Have to agree it is Wicks. Compare the initial and final letters of widdow immediately above.

Ditto - I reckoned Wicks without seeing the other replies - I'm going to have to set you lot on some of my 1600s/1700s postal history some time!   ;D

Not sure if this is related or not but there is a marriage in 1600 at Newenden, Kent between Mychell Wekes and Joan Janson. Not sure where that is in relation to Blean though.

Can't see any children for them however there is a possible death for Mychell Wekes in Canterbury in 1610.
