Can anyone suggest a date for this photo please? It is on a small glass plate 5 x 7 cms . I would also be very grateful if anyone could restore the photo. I believe the women in the photo are my Great Grandmother and her sister who lived in Scotland. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. My Great Granny was born 1855 so I suspect it's not her on the left in the photo if it was taken in the Edwardian era. It could be her daughter (my Grandmother) who was born 1889. The lady on the left is wearing a flower so perhaps it was taken at her wedding in 1913 when she was aged 24.

Do not think it is of someone born in 1855. :)
As to the second scenario . . . Hmmmmm :-\

My try. :)

A copy of the photo was sent to me recently by a relative so I don't have the original glass plate which the photo was on. It was suggested by my cousin that it could be my Great Granny born 1855 but I have have no evidence to support this. The lady on the left has a strong resemblance to a photo I have of my Granny so perhaps it's her and we originally got the wrong generation. All guesswork I'm afraid. Thank you for your help Wiggy.

Could be mother (seated) and daughter. They certainly look as if they are related.

I agree with Wiggy on date and I also think it could be Mother and Daughter.

My Great Grandmother died in 1902 aged 47. Would you rule out it being her on the right side of the photo going by dates/styles/age? Any thoughts? The mystery continues!

One from me :D :D :D
