Welcome to Rootschat Dotty  :D

It would be helpful if you could tell us where James was born and where and when he married Bridget.  I cannot find any marriage on freebmd between 1935 and 1955.

Are we talking about Ireland perhaps?

Aw sorry yes it was Ireland and they married about 1939 and that all know I can't find the marriage either. I know they lived in tuam in 1941. I'm really struggling with not being able to find the marriage I don't even know where to look

There is a public tree on Ancestry which has this baptism image linked as his:
James Christopher BRADY bap 25 Jun 1916, parents: Michael BRADY and Mary MURRAY at Terenure.

It says he was adopted 1919 and married Bridget CUNNINGHAM in 1938, though no sources are given.

There are photographs.  :)

Modified to add:
The tree also says he was born 11 May 1919, so I don't see how he could be baptised in 1916. Something's not right

Dates on gravestones can be wrong.

If you look on Irish genealogy, there is a marriage on 8 May 1940 in Dublin between James BRADY (motor driver) and Mary CUNNINGHAM. This is the only BRADY /CUNNINGHAM marriage I can see in the correct time frame.  :-\

The only 11/5/1919 civil registration I can see for a Brady birth, is a Dublin area one for a Matthew Brady born to a Peter Brady and Catherine Murray.

I can see from death index that whoever registered his death in Rochdale in 1984, gave his birth date as 11/5/1919.

As with any registration, the info provided is only as good as the knowledge of the person providing it. What they believed to be correct, may or may not have been.

You said he had been placed in an orphanage. Do you know if he lived out his childhood there, or if he was possibly  adopted and had a name change?

I thought it might be her.
Her date of birth is shown as 13th April 1906.
Do you have her details?

There is this birth -same date to Michael and Mary Cunningham - Glenamaddy, Galway

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1906/01736/1686139.pdf

I can’t find a death though and she is not with her family in 1911. Her mother Mary is a widow.

If that is the right birth:

Strange that she is not with her family in 1911.

Bridget may have been previously married - a marriage 1940 ish would make her about 34 yrs.

Bridget’s father died before 1911.

All I know Is that her father passed away when my dad was a little boy and that she married a James brady in about 1939 and they lived a louth lodge tuam and my dad was born there in 1941 with his brothers and sisters and that James brady had a twin and a brother who mother passed away in child birth and his father put them in a home. I can remember my mum saying that her and my dad meet Bridget and James when they came over to England. But sadly I can't ask my mum as she passed away last year. And I was always told my grandad was a toyboy lol

Thanks
Dot

I know you are really interested in James Brady but I am sure you would want the correct information for Bridget too.

Michael Cunningham died in 1910 - see KG’s post.
Bridget is not with her mother and siblings in 1911 -see my earlier post.

Here is Delia Cunningham (Delia is a pet name for Bridget) with her sister (presumably), Margaret and her relatives Michael Burns and Margaret Redington Burns.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Dunmore_South/Lissybroder/475426/
There is the Louth Lodge connection.

Here is the death (1944) of Michael Burns, Louth Lodge. The informant, Bridget Brady, niece.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1944/04647/4235767.pdf

Bridget was probably raised by the Burns after her father’s death.

Margaret Burns death, 104 yrs - informant Bridget Brady

My point was that you say,
“All I know Is that her father passed away when my dad was a little boy” but it was Michael Burns who died when your dad was small.
It will make a difference in when doing your family tree.

What was James’ occupation on his children’s birth certificates?

I am waiting for my dad birth certificate to come and than I will be able to see.
Sorry it was me wording it wrong. I am so interested in my grandad and grandma as they are my family. But hopefully I will get some where with it
