Hey All, hope we're good this February weekend?
I'm looking for information regarding my Great Grandparents, Ezra and Emily, and their ancestors. Brief conversations with surviving elders leads to very little in all honesty although I do believe we have both Scottish, and Prussian-German, lineage.
(Marriage date/venue, unknown)
Ezra Churchman
b. 03/05/1912
d. 09/09/1977
Emily Churchman (nee. Marshall)
b. 19/05/1913
d. 01/12/2004
Ezra and Emily had six children, five daughters and one son (four survive) although we now believe there was a seventh, a first-born if you will, born prior to my grandmother, who was born in 1934.
Children of Ezra and Emily, in birth order, are Jean, Lily, Joan, Joyce (deceased), Edward, and Christine (deceased).
Any information/links elsewhere are gratefully received. TIA

Not sure if there might be a relationship to Ezra but their are some Durham 'Churchman' on memorials mentioned on the North East War Memorials Project website. Actually it is not showing via link so you will need to put in Churchman yourself in search box to see things.

Just tell us if you have any information - saves duplication.

I've got next to nothing tbh other than 'ideas' of names, and that two brothers married two sisters so Ezra and a brother, married Emily and a sister

Here is Christian H Churchman with parents and your German link

Looks like the Churchman & Colpitts marriage might have been at the record office.

Could Jack Churchman be the brother marrying Ena Marshall in Middlesbrough Sept quarter 1929?
-
Blanche Cree Colpitts born in 1875 in Newcastle upon Tyne no Mother's maiden name so likely illegitimate.
As there is a Newcastle connection you may have some Colpitts ancestors recorded on this site.

German connection always interests me; can't believe there's a 'smoggie' (Middlesbrough) connection though lol....
Anything on Emily, Ezra's wife, she survived him by near three decades, cancer eventually took her in 2004 - fantastic matriarch if ever there was one

FS has an index entry but it doesn't give any other details than the parents names, the film number is for Methodist baptisms in Durham Circuit

If you search the catalogue using the film no 1804141, specify a surname of Marshall, father Edward, mother Jane then you should find more of the children named in the census.

Just got round to looking at more on this - yes, JH Churchman was my Great Grandfather's brother, and the memorial is the entrance to the church where the family are laid to rest, including my kid brother....
-
I have Colpitts going back to Robert born about 1769 Edmondbyers.

Just re-quoting on this - John Henry was Ezra's brother, found out loads in the past week or so about him; believe there's photos and letters with an ageing uncle we're trying to get access to which will be over a century old now...
