Hello,
I have hit a brick wall. ::) Any help gladly received!
I am looking for any information on the death of William McBurnie who was buried in the Belfast city cemetery in August 1934, in the same grave as his step son (Rodger Chandless) who was buried there in 1904.
His last known address was 35 Botanic Avenue (which I assume was in Belfast). Before he died he was living in Harrow, England.
He was married to Augusta Chandless in 1901.
He was born 22 nov 1872 in Liverpool - Original surname was Llorca but took his stepfathers name Mc Burnie.
I'd love to find any info on his death and why he was buried in Belfast with a stepson that died 30 years previously.
Many thanks!

Death certificate will give exact date and place of death, cause, age, marital status and details of informant (name, address and sometimes relationship if any). See GRONI's site to view certificate after registering and purchasing a few credits.

Hi
Did Rodger Chandless have a sister Daisy Madeline, who married Adam B Rea from Belfast?
On 1911 census, Adam B Rea is single and living with his mother and siblings in Belfast. See:-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Windsor/Melrose_Street/154111/
A couple of years later Adam B Rea and his wife Daisy Madeline (nee Chandless) are shown having a son Roger in 1914 and Leslie in 1915. See:-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-perform-search.jsp?namefm=&namel=Chandless&location=&yyfrom=&yyto=&submit=Search
This is the only mention of Chandless that I can see in Ireland, plus this couple naming one of their sons Roger, makes me wonder....
Regards

1943 street directory has:
. McBurnie, Miss N., grocer, 34 Botanic Avenue
-
Roger Chandless died of Typhoid fever in the Belfast Workhouse, with a previous address of 405 Woodstock Road. See:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/3e74a04700816
transcribed as Chandles, albeit written Chandless.

The following fits well with reply #2 above:
following Augusta's death (Edith being Daisy's sister)...

Son-in-law Adam Rea was the informant of William McBurnie's death in 1934, the cause of death was 'myocarditis'. Mid 1930s Belfast newspaper references suggest that 35 Botanic Avenue was a hotel for both visiting and permanent guests. The 1932 Belfast street directory shows the following possibility in Richmond Park, about a mile and a half away from Botanic Avenue: 13. Rea, Adam, bookkeeper.

Valuation Revision books list an Essie Rea as immediate lessor of 35 Botanic Avenue in the 1915-1930 book.
A 1908 newspaper entry concerning a Council order for completing the back street on the West side of Botanic Avenue, lists propeet owners and how much they need to contribute. One is a Mrs Essie Rea.
Essie Rea is possibly a red herring and just coincidence re Rea surname though.
