Title: Arthur White - Sapper, Royal Engineers -Reg. No 71683
Post by: BoBo on Tuesday 26 January 21 16:39 GMT (UK)
Hi
I am trying again to locate some information regarding Arthur White. I have asked once before but thought I might try again. I know that he was born in 1878 in Fetcham, Surrey. He joined the 3rd Battallion Grenadier Guards in 1897 and left in 1909. What happened to him after that is a mystery.  My friend found his 4 medals at her Aunt and Uncle's home - two from the Boer War and two from World War 1.  I suspect the link with her family and Arthur White was the Royal British Legion. I have found his Boer War records but nothing about his WW1 records.  I have located a medal roll which has the same regimental number. It states that he received the Victory and the British medals which I think are the two WW1 medals she has. However no other records.  Can anyone help me?  Did Arthur marry?   I  think he died in 1965 as we found a commemorative card for his death.  Thanks

Your first question has already been answered, his WW1 record didn't survive the Blitz.
You may need to get his death cert. & see if any family member was the informant.
