Title: Crest on a house in Hastings

I'm hoping for some help identifying a crest on a plaque on the wall of my house.

My house is in Old Town Hastings, and was built in 1648 - I've just had the beams tree-ring dated, hence the precision. I've no way of knowing when the plaque was placed on the front, though it is in pride of place.

What I think I can see is a demi-griffin segreant emanating from a torse. The griffin has something between her paws (a cross patonce?) and something in its beak (possibly an ear of wheat). Below the crest is the badge of a baronet, the red hand sinister.

Given the age of the house, is it listed?  If so there might be a description of the history of the house e.g. who built it or owned it or even altered it which might provide a few clues on some names which you could then look up.  Is it in a conservation area?  Sometimes there are reports on these areas which can be found online.

The house was listed in the early 1950s, and the listing is brief, as they all were at that time. I'm pretty sure there are no documents which give any information about owners before the nineteenth century (and through the nineteenth century it was a grocer's shop, with wooden boarding over the front as a cladding).

Yes it is in a Conservation area and with an active local history society. No information seems to be available to solve this. I think the way forward has to be to get from the crest (which will be unique) to a named person, but I'm struggling.

The physical style of a cast iron crest can be as early as seventeenth century, but of course can also be made at just about any time later. The crest with (just) the baronet's red hand below seems to be an early presentation - later times would tend to present the crest and the full coat of arms.
