Hello
I’ve been trying today to get into the GRO site and not having any luck at all which is truly frustrating.....
Does anyone know if it’s got a problem please?
Many thanks in advance
Caroline

I’ve logged in twice, no problems :-\

I have been on several times today, the latest 10 minutes ago with no problem.

I’ve been logged in on an Apple machine for most of the day without problem.
-
Thanks everyone.... it’s now fine,.. goodness knows what I’d been doing before but was ready to throw the laptop out of the window!

Upper case GRO works fine for me!
Most URL's are not case sensitive.

I haven't been able to access the website using Google Chrome for over a week. This is the case on both of my machines; my personal Macbook Pro laptop, and a Windows PC at work. It simply displays 'your connection is not private' with the error "NET::ERR_CERT_REVOKED".
I can access it if I use another browser such as Safari or Edge, but I would rather not have to open another browser every time I want to use the GRO website. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

Website here: https://cheapsslsecurity.com/p/your-guide-for-how-to-fix-the-net-err_cert_revoked-error-in-google-chrome/
Suggests maybe incorrect date and time settings?

Are you all using the full URL and https?
https://www.gro.gov.uk/
As opposed to a shortened URL (eg https://gro.gov.uk/) or http. Using the shortened URL I can get timeouts and/or certificate issues.
Also, URLs are case sensitive but it probably doesn't matter for the GRO website, given the technology they're using. It could matter but it'd depend on how they've configured it.

Neither of the links work for me, I get an error saying NET::ERR_CERT_REVOKED. I haven't been able to access the GRO since Friday last week. I've tried different browsers, different operating systems, and I've cleared cookies and tried incognito mode but I'm still unable to access the site unfortunately.
The GRO is also reported to be down here: https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/gro.gov.uk
Is anyone able to access the site at all?
-
I'm using it at the moment, no problem.

I get that message on my Mac using chrome, I can access it using Safari though.

Still the same as my reply #1 on Tuesday. No problems whatsoever.

Likewise, I'm able to access the site using Chrome and Windows 10.

It looks its a much wider issue that just the GRO's site. The GRO are using a QuoVadis Global SSL ICA G3 certificate, which have been revoked.
The reason it's not working in some browsers is probably that those browsers are handling the revocation quicker than others. This'll likely happen in all browsers in a matter of time. No doubt the GRO website cert. will be updated sometime soon though.

I’ve had this problem for a week or so now on my iMac and iPad with Opera and Safari.
-
I started this thread below on Monday. I had seen this thread when Caroline posted and checked and mine was ok. I then forgot I had seen it ::)
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=843410.0
I still can’t access the site on my IPad using Chrome, Safari and tried Firefox too last evening. I followed some instructions and did a reset but still no joy.
I have just tried my laptop and that works with Chrome. I didn’t try another browser.
It’s a nuisance.

So, is this just a problem for iPad users?

I don’t know but it was working for me up to last week.
-
KG, I am using an iMac and get the error when using Chrome but it is OK with Safari. My iPad is working ok using Safari. It works on an old laptop with Windows 10 using Chrome
-
I have made some progress. On my iPad I mainly use Brave and having newly logged in on that it now works for searching the GRO index.
Then using Safari and going into top level GRO sites (rather than just clicking on an old bookmark) I drilled down to where I had to sign in to search or order certificates. When I had managed to figure out the correct bookmark (I've had a few variations across GRO sites) I can now log in using Safari also.
Now I have to try similar on my iMac which uses mostly Opera with Safari being just something Apple loaded and not generally used by me.
So it seems like one has to log in again - maybe something to do with cookies or a time-out of for how long one was logged in for. Too much for this bear's brain.
-
I have to log in every time so it doesn’t work like that for me.
I just tried Brave and logged in to GRO but that didn’t work either.
I have now tried my husband’s iPad and it works ???
Do I have to swap? :)
-
Is anyone else having trouble accessing the GRO website? I’ve clicked through from the main gov.uk website, but land on a page telling that the connection is not private, and attackers could steal my information. The URL is gro.gov.uk
Thanks
Lisa

There are at least 2 existing threads on this very topic?!
-
It shows then how important it is to some of us ;)
-
I’m having exactly the same message ie site not secure. Has happened in the last few days.
-
As I wrote earlier I managed to get in with my iPad. Just tried to see if I could on my iMac and no good using Opera even after deleting all my browsing history and cookies. Also cannot get in with Safari.
-
I go straight to the login page, I haven't had any problems with that.
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
-
That is exactly where I go to but it is not working for me and now it is giving the same message using Safari.
Apparently GRO are aware and are trying to sort it ;D
-
Clicking on that link gives me this
-
I can’t see the message on the site which says that GRO are aware of the difficulty. Is it on the main site?
-
From another post on here
On the login page there is this message:
" A small number of customers are reporting that they are being prevented from accessing this site to place orders and accessing PDF's. We apologise if you are affected and are currently seeking to resolve this issue as soon as possible".
William
-
Ah, thanks, Rosie.
When I get to login I just get the security notices.
-
Thanks for the info. I've been finding it really frustrating for over a week I’m using Safari on both my iPad & Mac
Access not a problem on my iPad but on my Mac every time I try and access gro I keep getting this message
This Connection is Not Private
This website may be impersonating “www.gro etc….. to steal your personal or financial information.
Go back to the previous page
Hopefully all will be sorted soon - fingers crossed
Edit to add
OH NO :o I've just had an update downloaded onto my iPad and now I can't access gro on here either getting the same message this connection is not private >:(
-
I have just woken up to the same problem. Tried DuckDuckGo and they are blocking it too.
Withdrawal symptoms for me!
-
No problems for me. But I do have it as a "shortcut" on my desktop.
-
Hasn't worked for me since Tuesday evening, ‘twas OK on Monday. Gave some ‘feedback' and I'm sure others have. I see a message above from the login page (thanks to Millmoor) that it's being worked on.
-

See reply 35 for Millmoors post.
You can't see the message on the GRO site though if you are having the problem as you can't get into the page ;D

I have it as a shortcut too but I am getting the error message from that, it does not seem to be constant as to where it is happening. :)

My search is mainly Scotland and it seems that some folks have located to England, so on the 28th Jan, I tried accessing the website and couldn't get through, I tried again 20 mins later, managed to get in and ordered a Death Cert. Later that night, tried ordering another one, but was timed out after a few seconds, so other searches are put on the back burner for the time being.
Cheers

hard to see how to give "Feedback" if one can't log in at all!
-
I also have a shortcut and it works fine for me. Hope I haven’t just jinxed it!

My shortcut didn't work, knew there was a link on here somewhere and went through that, which worked fine in the beginning.
Cheers

Clicking on that link gives me this
I would not click on any "Reload" nor any other button offered on a warning page (as shown in the scan, attached to the reply in the quote Reply #33).
Hackers have been known in the past to display a web page or pictures, over an, or with an Official UK website page.

There does not seem to be any pattern as to who can access ie which browser / computer /ipad I can get in with some devices and not others, others cannot get in using the same ;D
-

You can email them on certificate.service AT gro.gov.uk
Replace AT with @

Thank you.

Received this response which has been mentioned I think before:
Thank you for your enquiry.
A small number of customers are reporting they are being prevented from accessing our site to place orders and accessing PDF’s.
We apologise if you are affected and are currently seeking to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

I cannot access the website on iPad with either Safari or Chrome. However, today I did get into it on my laptop using Chrome. I was then instructed to put a code number into it before it would work. I managed to order records OK. I think this requirement to input the code number was because the email that is linked to my login from my laptop is not the same as the email I have been using on iPad (which is the email I’d been using successfully on my iPad only last week to order pdf’s ???

Hello
I've had no code and simply logged in today, on the usual GRO gov.uk page with my old email, I've always used to log-in with.

I suggest everyone tries the site now, the problem may be fixed.
I wasn’t having any problems when others did, then suddenly I was unable to get in on my iPad for about five days, this morning I have had no problem at all, straight in from the usual link on my iPad.
-
Thanks Jebber , went to check and Yes. Mine is OK now too. But, I had to turn my iPad off and on again first.
-
All back to normal on my iPad too now, thank goodness.
Dave :)
-
I can still get in but that's on my pc (Win 10 & Chrome).
I haven't tried my ipad as I prefer to use the pc for tree work.
-
Now OK for me on my iMac using Opera. Not tried the iPad yet.
-
What a great start to the day. :) All back on iPad on both Chrome and Safari.
Let’s hope it stays.
-
Couldn’t get on the site at first, so followed the tip about switching Ipad off and back on again.... pleased to report all working now! Thanks.
-
I can get back in today too on both my iPad & Mac :)
-
I haven't had any problems with the site, using laptop & Chrome, but thought I'd mention the great service I've received from the GRO. I ordered 3 PDF certs and 1 paper copy of a bc not covered by PDFs last Friday, 29th Jan. I've already received 2 of the PDFs. I hadn't expected any response for much longer than that.

I've had no problems at all with accessing the GRO with my desktop and laptop, both using Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. I have also accessed via tablet using Firefox.
Must give praise to GRO, over the last couple of weeks I have ordered several PDFs and have received them all within 3 days of the order being placed.
-
Just checked my PDFs now while having a cuppa. All three have arrived, so very good service indeed.
-
Working for me too on my Mac with Chrome :).
-
I tried yesterday and today, site crashed both times. I'm using Firefox and Win 10 but the problem seems to be with the site.
rayard.
-
It’s fine on my iPad, and I have been on and off it all afternoon on my Windows 10 Laptop using Edge. I think your your problem is Firefox.
-

What version of Firefox?
I'm on 85.0, and that works fine with Windows 7.
-
Working fine for me now (using Safari on iPad), have just ordered a batch of birth certificates.
-
Thanks for your replies, I'm not sure which verson but my husband does all the updates!
There was a message in red along the bottom before it froze and then the error message. The searches weren't that important so I will leave it for a while.
