Hey
Hoping someone could maybe help with this one.
I have managed to find out what happened to all of my 2 x great grandfather's siblings apart from one, his sister Catherine.
She was born Catherine McHaff McKay, 03.05.1880, South Wellington St, Glasgow. Father Henry McKay, mother Catherine Murdoch.
She married James Gillies Colquhoun, (born 15.01.1880, 32 Albion St, Glasgow) on 28.11.1902, 134 George St, Glasgow. She used the name Catherine MacKay on her wedding registration.
They had one child, that I can find, John Colquhoun born 03.01.1903, 33 James Orr St, Glasgow. On John’s birth registration, James is noted as a commercial traveller and Catherine calls herself Catherine Murdoch MacKay, which is the exact same name as her sister who died the year before she was born.
The trail then goes cold. I have spent a small fortune on SP looking up potential deaths of both her, her husband and their son with no success. I have paid for numerous 1911 Scottish Census on SP and none have been successful. I have also paid for James’ parent's death registrations in the hope he registered one of them but nope. I have managed to find the burials of both his parents in the hope that Catherine or James might be in the same grave but they're not.
I did a google search of James Gillies Colquhoun. I discovered a couple of online trees he was in which belong to his brother's descendants. I made contact with them but they told me they have also been unable to find him past 1903.
Not sure if anyone has any pointers on where else I can check?
Thank you
Leanne

Hey Santi
Thank you so much for that. No idea who Arthur is as I don’t have a note of that name as a sibling for James. Although that’s not to say he isn’t a sibling. I will have a look into Arthur and see what I can find on him.
Thanks again for the reply

Thanks for those suggestions Santi.
I downloaded them on SP just there unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be them.
The census from Bonhill, Dunbarton is a James who is a cloth calender man living with his wife of 1 year Annie and relatives Minnie & Jeannie Jack. They all state that they were born in Bonhill, Dunbarton. James and Annie have said they don’t have any children.
The census from Camlachie, Lanark is a James who is living with his wife Mary and their 8 year old daughter Agnes. James has been married for 9 years, has one child born and one child still alive. He is a house painter. They all state they were born Glasgow, Lanark.
Thank you so much for sending those suggestions though.
