Thomas BEGBY (BEGLY, BEGBIE, BUGBY) South Africa 1814..................
He is listed on his daughter Clara's marriage certificate as a soldier, but deceased by 1847. What REGIMENT would he likely have been part of? Possibly a Scottish Regiment but I'd love to know please. Thanks!

Hello Feral566,
Please would you only post a topic once as other members may not be aware that an answer may possibly be on a different duplicate topic. If you have posted and after a few days you have not had a reply or answer you require you can simply request for the topic to be moved to a different board if you wish, that way keeping all the research together for any new readers to read.

The 1st Battalion 72nd Seaforth Highlanders were stationed in Cape Town in 1814/15 if that is of any use to you.

Hi Sarah, oh sorry I didn't realise that! I will do that in the future, thank you!
Hi Pogo, thanks I'll look into that. Thought it might be a Scottish regiment but wasn't sure.
