Title: Ancestry 'Worldwide Membership' - Australian Discount Pricing?
Post by: Jeanette H on Tuesday 05 January 21 03:23 GMT (UK)
Hello RootsChat Members:

Wondering if anyone has got any suggestions?

Regarding: Ancestry – 'Everything On Ancestry – Worldwide Membership' (3rd Option).

Has anyone in Australia come across a further Discount for this 3rd Option?

The usual Price is - $169.99 for 6-mths. (apparently always Marked Down from $249.99).

UK and USA, always appear to have various Discounts, but for some reason very few for Australia.

I am aware that they are currently offering (50% off)  'UK Heritage Plus Annual Membership' (for $124.99, ending today 6th Jan. 2021).  This is the (2nd Option), and not the one I prefer.

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

What happens if you pay at ancestry.com and get world wide? Do you get different Australian info than you do if you sign on from ancestry.au?

Hello Mckha489,

I am unsure how this would work.
I would also have to take the Currency Conversion into consideration.

I do not believe it would create any problems with the DNA (AU), and I believe that all DNA Communications are held in USA (at .com).

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

I am in NZ and my world wide sub is through ancestry.co.uk.  I don’t seem to be missing any NZ options, but am not sure about Australian. Every so often I get a message saying I should be with .Au, but I always dismiss the message.

I'd be interested to know how you did that, Mckha489. I have tried in the past to sign up in the UK and have been automatically redirected to the Australian one.

I have been a long time subscriber to Ancestry.com.au  Recently I was unable to access my DNA results, trees messages etc. Also it used to default to Ancestry.com ( which I didn't want)
I spoke to them and they suggested I log in with a different server ( so instead of Google I used
Firefox) and bingo! it worked. Please don't ask me why! And we never seem to get decent discounts here even for loyal longtime subscribers.

I am sorry, I have no idea!  I have been a member since 2008 and just do not remember.

Hi, I took out a World Wide subscription yesterday on Ancestry.se with the 40% discount. I logged into Ancestry.co.uk and Ancestry.com.au today and all the tips and everything worked just fine there so I assume that it doesn't make any difference where you take out the subscription. When I go to the UK or Australian Ancestry sites the first thing that happens before I login is that a big pop up window appears asking me if I would prefer to redirect to the Swedish site. I just click on proceed with Ancestry.co.uk and it lets me sign in there.

Hope this helps someone
Glyn

Hello RootsChat Members,

Thank you to all for your comments so far.

I have just checked the Canadian Ancestry site, offering (50% off)  Memberships,
'Everything on Ancestry – World Deluxe' ($64.99 – Canada, for 6-months).

Currency Conversion: Canadian $s - to - Australian $s = $66.1660

Can anyone please tell me, if I was to purchase from the Canadian Site, would I still be able to  access all Australian and UK records.

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

Hi Jeanette, Please see my post directly preceding yours. I bought my subscription from the Swedish site and just signed in to Ancestry Canada site and my hints worked OK and I was able to search Swedish and Australian records without any problems.

Hello Glyn,

Thank you for your Post, and for checking the Canadian site.  I did go into the Swedish site, but then I remembered that Canada's Currency value is very similar to Australia.
It would appear that the availability of records are the same, no matter from which site one chooses to Login into.

I am just amazed at the price difference on the Australian site, compared to Canada (in particular), it just does not make sense.

We will probably go with the Canadian Conversion, (we have until 10th January, to decide).
We will report back and let you know how things go.

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

Hello RootsChat Members,

We decided to go ahead with the World Deluxe Membership, on the Canadian Ancestry site.
6-Months for $64.99  +  $6.50 Tax  = $71.49 (Canada-$)
The Currency Conversion Total in Canadian-to-Australian-$ = $76.83 (AU-$)

Which is certainly a much more preferable amount to pay, than the $169.99 (Australian World-Wide 6-Month Membership.

We have signed into the Canadian site, and briefly tried searching Australian BMDs and UK Census records, then signed out.
Then signed into the Australian site, did the same searches, all works well at this stage.

So thank you again to everyone,
Jeanette H.

Even after the 10 th January as mentioned above - don't forget the ancestry.co.uk site
using the link below.  Worldwide for 12 months £89-99
This is an offer we have used for 5/6 years now, perhaps not as well published as some offers, hopefully its slipped under the radar.

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/subscribe?dna=crossAct&o_iid=70089&o_lid=70089&o_sch=Web%20Property

You can log in to any of the ancestry sites and see the same records as discussed with glywri on this other thread

Lovely to see everyone getting a bargain in these hard times.

Hello

I know I am late to the party but I cannot even find an annual membership.  I did use a discount last year to get a worldwide subscription heavily discounted and have been searching for the same since my sub ran out in February 2021.  Any ideas anybody?
