Title: Marriage Record
Post by: Kenneal67 on Thursday 24 December 20 14:55 GMT (UK)
Dear All,

I am looking for the father of the bride if possible ( no luck on FindMyPast) for a marriage in Liverpool December Q 1873 between Henry Hones and Mary Ann Crocken

Cheers

Ken

For anyone looking for this marriage the names are Henry Jones and Mary Ellen Crocken.

Nothing on Lancs OPC.

Thanks Emeltom,

The jury is out as to whether she is Mary Ellen or Mary Ann,

I have the birth certificate of daughter Alice Ann Jones and it says father Henry Jones mother Mary Ann Jones formerly Crocken.

In the 1881 census she is recorded as Mary E Jones

Best Ken

As the other couple on that reference are Kenny & Fitzgerald I wonder if it is a catholic marriage.

Wenricum Jones and Mariam Ellmam Crockeas

Marriage Date:
12 Oct 1873
St Brigid, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
in the Liverpool, England, Catholic Marriages, 1754-1933 on Ancestry

Her father seems to be Michael-mother Mar*.

Someone else should check!

Maureen
Edit: Yes,Rosie's correct!

I see Mariai for the mother of the bride.

Though Ancestry has transcribed the Groom as "Wenricum" the image actually says Henricum.
They have also transcribed the Bride's name as Mariam Ellmam Crockeas  and the image says Mariam Ellinam Crocken (possibly with an s on the end).

Close but I wouldn't give them a coconut for this one :-)

Alice Ann's baptism in 1878 shows mother as Mary Ellen formerly Crockin

Is the birth certificate you have a handwritten/typed copy or a photograph of the original?

Thanks Ann and everyone it is obviously the birth certificate of her daughter that is the red herring.

Hi, I don't know if you have this,

but there is also a baptism for

Robert Jones 1874 to Henry, mother's name Mary Ellen Crocken
Maria Helena (Mary Ellen I assume) 1881 mother Mary Ellen Crockin

I think there's others on ancestry under Liverpool Catholic baptisms but her maiden surname hasn't been transcribed
