Title: Clare & Handrick
Post by: AllieCarr-Russo on Sunday 20 December 20 20:33 GMT (UK)
Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile but I am stuck at a little brick wall. I am trying to find Thomas Clare's father Patrick.

I know that Thomas's father name is correct cause it is on the correct document for Thomas and his wife  Elizabeth Handrick marriage.

NAME:
Thomas Clare/Clear
BIRTH: abt 1839 - Wexford, Wexford, Ireland
DEATH: 15 Nov 1916 - Wexford, Wexford, Ireland
MARRIAGE: 28 Feb 1865 - Wexford, Ireland
PARENTS: Patrick Clare
SPOUSE: Elizabeth (Betty) Handrick

IF someone can help me find Thomas' parents and or sibling's that would be so helpful. I am pulling my hair out trying to find him.

Thank you very much to everyone who is willing to help,

Allison

For reference here is the marriage - indexed as Thomas Clear and Elizabeth Handcock, Rathnure, Enniscorthy district.

I think the Townland is  Tomanine

Griffiths Valuation shows Mary Clear, Tomanine and there is also a James Henrick living there too - possibilities.

The Catholic parish is Rathnure and baptism records don’t begin until 1846

Why would you think that?
In your post you have put Wexford as the place of marriage which isn’t correct. You didn’t mention the townland or parish.
Do you mean you think he comes from Wexford town?

You would need to find the parish.
As you know, Rathnure do not have records for the early dates you need on Catholic NLI site. Sometimes, RootsIreland which is a pay site has other records. Have you tried there?

Have you looked at the Tithe Applotment records?
You will find Patrick Clear/e in Tomanine there in 1834. There is also a Simon/Simeon Clear/e.

It only confirms that someone of that name was there about the right time but I think it is useful. Then you have Mary Clear in Griffiths.
